January 9, 2023CHESAPEAKE, Va. – State Health Commissioner, Dr. Colin Greene, has approved Chesapeake Regional Medical Center’s Certificate of Public Need (COPN) application to introduce open-heart surgery at the hospital. This decision comes after a favorable recommendation by the Division of COPN staff in November, and over five years after the hospital’s initial request.

March 14, 2023CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Chesapeake Regional Healthcare’s Priority Toyota Cancer Center has received a $10,000 transportation grant from the American Cancer Society to help bring the system’s oncology patients to their life-saving treatment appointments. The award will help solve transportation problems by assisting patients using a variety of solutions to include bus passes, gas reimbursements, private transportation companies, etc.

Currently, health systems across the country are seeing a steady decrease in COVID-19, RSV, and flu patients - the three respiratory viruses that triggered a surge in emergency department visits and hospitalizations last fall.
March 27, 2023CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Two new members have recently been appointed by the Chesapeake City Council to the Chesapeake Hospital Authority Board. Douglas W Davis, Esq. and David Paradise, began their terms earlier this year and will stay on the board until January 2026. The Chesapeake Hospital Authority is an 11-member board, appointed by Chesapeake City Council, which provides oversight and governance for Chesapeake Regional Healthcare.
April 6, 2023CHESAPEAKE, Va. – To acknowledge Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and demonstrate their dedication to treating victims, Chesapeake Regional Healthcare and Chesapeake City Hall are lighting their buildings in teal during the month of April and Denim Day will be celebrated April 26 throughout the hospital. The Chesapeake Police Department is also showing their support by placing teal ribbons on some of their police cars this month.

The award recognizes hospital units that have at least 75% of their eligible nurses certified. This achievement is a testament to the leadership and staff at Chesapeake Regional Healthcare who recognize and support the value of nursing certification.
