Awarded by Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Distinction Centers recognize select doctors, hospitals and other health care facilities for the high quality, safe care they provide. Each meets a set of rigorous standards to receive the designation. Our bariatric surgery program meets those standards as a Blue Distinction Center+.

The Breast Center at Chesapeake Regional
National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
We have passed a rigorous evaluation by independent clinical surveyors who have awarded us their nationally recognized seal of approval. Our accreditation is a validation of the quality standard of care we give our patients. We are the only breast center in the area that has breast surgeons on-site. Our dedicated physicians and caring staff are among the reasons we stand out as one of the top breast centers in the nation.
American College of Radiology
Accredited Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
The Jennings Outpatient Center Ultrasound Department is an ACR-accredited Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. In order to achieve this designation, the department first had to become accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, ultrasound and ultrasound biopsy. The facility has additional ACR accreditation in MRI and MRI breast biopsy, and is currently in the accreditation process for CT.
Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
This prestigious designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the ACR’s voluntary breast imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program. In order to achieve this designation, the department first had to become accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, ultrasound and ultrasound biopsy.
Breast MRI-Accredited Facility
The American College of Radiology's Breast MRI Accreditation Program recognizes the highest level of image quality and patient safety available. The Breast MRI Accreditation Program provides facilities performing breast MRI procedures with peer review and constructive feedback on their staff's qualifications, equipment, quality control, quality assurance, safety policies and image quality.

This program from the American College of Surgeons recognizes programs for their commitment to providing high quality cancer care. The accreditation is recognized by organizations such as the National Cancer Institute, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the National Quality Forum, the American Cancer Society and The Joint Commission.

American College of Cardiology Silver Performance Achievement Award
Chesapeake Regional Medical Center has demonstrated sustained achievement in ACTION Registry® for four consecutive quarters and met a performance standard of 90% for specific performance measures to receive this 2017 award.
American College of Cardiology Accredited as a Chest Pain Center
Chesapeake Regional Chest Pain Center is fully accredited with PCI from the American College of Cardiology. To earn the designation, nationally recognized experts visited Chesapeake Regional to verify that heart attack patients are receiving the most advanced and best possible care. The society has strict criteria and only accredits those facilities that closely follow the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Associations recommendations to improve and save lives.

We Honor Veterans Partner Level Four
ComfortCare's Hospice program has achieved Partner Level Four with We Honor Veterans, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). It surprises many Americans to learn that 25 percent of all deaths in the US are Veterans. That's 1,800 people a day - more than 680,000 Veterans every year. These heroic Americans deserve recognition for their military service- particularly at the end of life's journey. Chesapeake Regional's Home Health & Hospice program joined We Honor Veterans enabling us to provide for the unique needs of our nation's Veterans who are facing a life-limiting illness.

Jennings Outpatient Center
American College of Radiology Accreditation for MRI and Ultrasound
The Jennings Outpatient Center and Chesapeake Regional Medical Center Ultrasound Departments have each been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in ultrasound as the result of an extensive review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Ultrasound imaging, also known as sonography, uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body parts to help providers diagnose illness, injury or other medical problems.

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center's Pelvic Health program is designated a Center of Excellence by the National Association for Continence (NAFC), recognizing the hospital's dedication to serving the best interests of patients suffering with pelvic health concerns.
Radiology
American College of Radiology Gold Seal
Chesapeake Regional's Radiology Department is accredited in both MRI and ultrasound by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR Gold Seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR practice guidelines and technical standards following a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.

Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) Primary Stroke Seal of Excellence
Chesapeake Regional Medical Center has earned the Primary Stroke Seal of Excellence from the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program. Primary Stroke Centers have the capacity to stabilize and treat acute stroke patients. They provide initial, acute care and administer tPA and other acute therapies safely and efficiently.
American Heart Association Get with the Guidelines Stroke Silver Plus & Target: Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll
Chesapeake Regional Medical Center received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines - Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award in 2018. The award recognizes the hospital's commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.

Program of Distinction from the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety
Chesapeake Regional Healthcare was the 32nd organization in the United States, and the first organization in the state of Virginia, to receive the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Program of Distinction recognition for security department accreditation. The IAHSS Program of Distinction acknowledgement recognizes security programs where 70 percent of the officers, managers and directors are IAHSS certified. CRH's security department was recognized with 100 percent of its 20 officers certified through IAHSS.
Transitional Care Clinic
2018 Health Quality Innovators First Place in Collaboration
Health Quality Innovators (HQI), an independent, non-profit consulting organization, awarded Chesapeake Regional Healthcare's Transitional Care Clinic (TCC) as the Health Quality Innovator of the Year for Virginia in 2018. It was designated as the winner of the Collaboration category for its dedication to bringing others together to solve health challenges.
