A beacon of health for the Outer Banks

Located in Nags Head, North Carolina, The Outer Banks Hospital is a full service, community hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. A joint venture between Vidant Health and Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, the hospital opened in March 2002.

The 83,796 square foot facility includes 18 acute care medical-surgical beds, two labor and delivery/recovery/post-partum beds, one level II nursery bed and three operating rooms, a designated caesarian section room, outpatient and diagnostic services and emergency department. In addition, OBH offers both an off-campus Radiation Therapy Center in Nags Head and two Urgent Care Centers in Kitty Hawk and Nags Head.

Designed especially to meet the health needs of our coastal community, whose year-round population of 35,000 swells to about 250,000 in the summer season, OBH has approval as a provider of Medicare and Medicaid programs, licensure by the Division of Facility Services, and accreditation by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, College of American Pathologists, and the American College of Radiology.

Most notably, OBH has been recognized as a Top 100 U.S. Community Hospital and named in the top 100 of the best Critical Access Hospitals in the nation.
