Chesapeake Hospital Authority Scholarship

The purpose of the Chesapeake Hospital Authority Scholarship is to help nurture interest and education in a healthcare profession.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Applicant must be accepted for admission and plan to attend an accredited school in a healthcare profession.
  2. Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Chesapeake High School or Northeastern North Carolina High School.
  3. Applicant must submit a completed application, high school scholastic transcript with SAT scores, and FAFSA report.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Chesapeake Hospital Authority Scholarship Committee is pleased to offer a $5,000.00 scholarship to students who demonstrate a commitment to academic achievement, community involvement, and personal development.

Selection Process: Students will be selected based on a comprehensive review of the following criteria:

  • Academic Achievement: SAT scores and GPA
  • Volunteerism and Community Service: Demonstrated commitment to helping others
  • Essay: Reflecting personal goals, values, and interest in a healthcare career
  • Financial Need: Consideration of individual financial circumstances

We encourage applicants from all academic backgrounds, as selection will focus not only on GPA or SAT scores but on each applicant’s unique strengths and contributions.

The Scholarship Committee will review all completed applications based on the information provided, and selected recipients will be notified shortly thereafter.

Submission Instructions:
Please submit online or email completed applications (click here for PDF) to the Chesapeake Hospital Authority’s Board Clerk at daviana.wright@chesapeakeregional.com.

Applications must be received no later than Friday, April 25, 2025. Applications will not be considered if they are late, incomplete, or fail to follow directions. If the packet received is not complete it will be eliminated from consideration. Late applications will not be accepted. Applicants will be notified by email whether they have been awarded the scholarship or not.

 

Chesapeake General Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship

If you are currently pursuing a career in the healthcare field and you are attending a college or university or enrolled in an accredited program of study, you may be eligible for a Chesapeake General Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship. The Auxiliary is awarding several $1000.00 scholarships. Please read the scholarship requirements and information carefully and return your completed application by April 18, 2025. Applicants can either complete the online application below or print and mail the PDF available here. Scholarship recipients will be notified by May 16, 2025. General Requirements:

1.    Be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or accredited program of study and be maintaining a “B” average or better.
2.    Be enrolled in a course of study in the healthcare field.
3.   Submit a completed application, two letters of reference, last semester’s college transcript, and typed responses to the essay questions.

The Chesapeake General Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Committee shall make the selection of recipients subject to the approval of the Auxiliary Executive Board. Late applications will NOT be accepted. 
 

Summer Externship & Scholarship Program

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare (CRH) is accepting applications from rising high school seniors who are children of a CRH employee - or - who are currently enrolled in Chesapeake Public Schools. 

The intent of this program is to provide on the job training, education and mentorship experience to those individuals planning to seek at least part-time employment with Chesapeake Regional Healthcare upon graduation, and planning attend a higher-learning university/college in the Hampton Roads region.

Every extern will be assigned a mentor during each rotation.

Eligibility criteria for acceptance into the Summer Work Externship Program: 

  • Rising high school senior of CRH employee or rising high school senior at Chesapeake Public Schools.
  • Demonstrate a 3.0 GPA or higher – attach the last report card or transcript
  • Submit an essay on career plans in healthcare (see page 2 of the application)
