Chesapeake Regional Medical Center has two da Vinci Surgical Systems allowing our certified surgeons to have more time performing robotics procedures. Recently, we were the first hospital in the state of Virginia to purchase the da Vinci XI Surgical System, which resulted from increased surgical demand for the older da Vinci SI System. Having both of these systems allows us flexibility in scheduling patients for robotic procedures and provides patients with the most advanced technology available.
MAKOplasty Robotic Arm Technology
Chesapeake Regional Medical Center offers MAKOplasty for knee and hip pain. MAKOplasty robotic arm technology enables surgeons to perform personalized partial knee and total hip replacement surgery, resulting in fewer complications and a shorter recovery time allowing you to return to your daily activities more quickly.
This technology offers the potential for a higher level of patient–specific implant alignment and positioning to accurately reproduce the surgical plan, an aspect not consistently achieved in manual techniques. Accurate alignment and positioning of hip implants are important factors affecting surgical outcomes and the lifespan of implants.
Mazor X™ Robotics
The Mazor X™ allows the surgeon to perform minimally invasive spine surgery with an added layer of precision and accuracy. From building a surgical plan using a scan of the patient’s spine, to inserting screws accurately with minimal incisions, the Mazor X™ has enhanced our surgical program for the benefit of our patients.
Mazor Robotics technology has been clinically validated to ensure 1.5mm accuracy for increased patient safety as compared to freehand spine surgery. Before entering the OR, surgeons use Renaissance to pre-plan the optimal surgery in a CT-based 3D simulation of the patient’s spine. During surgery, Renaissance guides the surgeon’s hand and tools to the precise pre-planned location. Mazor Robotics technology may reduce the use of fluoroscopy in minimally-invasive procedures.
