Depending on the results of your 3D mammogram, some providers will suggest patients follow up with a Breast MRI, a technique that produces 3D images of the entire thoracic cavity, including the breasts bilaterally. This procedure is usually used after other imaging studies and for high-risk patients who have a 20 percent or greater lifetime risk of developing breast cancer.
