New Chief Medical Officer joins Chesapeake Regional Healthcare
CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Chesapeake Regional Healthcare is pleased to announce and welcome Genevieve Lankowicz, M.D. as its new Chief Medical Officer. Lankowicz brings extensive experience in healthcare leadership and management to her new role. She will begin her tenure mid-September.
“We are elated to find a Chief Medical Officer with Dr. Lankowicz’s experience and vast knowledge,” said Reese Jackson, President and CEO of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. “As the link between all aspects of hospital care and physician engagement, her expertise will continue to propel Chesapeake Regional forward.”
In her previous position, Lankowicz served as Regional Chief Clinical Officer for St. Joseph Health System, a member of Trinity Health, in Indiana, while also serving as its Chief Medical Officer.
“I am both grateful and honored to join the leadership team at Chesapeake Regional Healthcare,” said Lankowicz. “It is uncommon to find a community-governed health system with the full scope of services, ambitious plans for growth and a solid reputation like this local gem. As a dedicated physician leader, I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues and becoming familiar with the surrounding community.”
Chesapeake Regional’s new CMO began her career in Family Medicine after earning her medical degree from Stony Brook University Renaissance School of Medicine. In 2001, she and her family moved from New York to Indiana to join Elkhart General Hospital as an employed family physician in Osceola. While there, she became credentialed as a Certified Physician Executive by the American Association for Physician Leadership.
After serving as Chief of Staff for two years, she became the first Vice President of Medical Affairs at Elkhart General Hospital. While in that role, Lankowicz earned her Master of Business Administration from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Lankowicz is moving to Hampton Roads with her husband, John. They share three grown daughters who live in Maine, Indiana, and Illinois.
