Women's Wellness Wednesdays Continue With Event Tomorrow at Chesapeake Rx

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Chesapeake Regional Healthcare has something special planned for women in South Norfolk. Women’s Wellness Wednesdays, to be held on the first Wednesday of each month through November, will hold its first event tomorrow, June 2. It will be held from 10 am - 2 pm in the parking lot outside of the Chesapeake Rx Pharmacy, located in the Bainbridge Marketplace Shopping Center, at 254 Bainbridge Boulevard.

After monitoring repeat visits to Chesapeake Medical Center’s Emergency Room, the care manager in the ER determined that the majority of patients with multiple visits were women who resided in the 23324 zip code, where there is less access to care and higher rates of chronic illness. These are statistics that are also supported in findings from the Community Needs Assessment Chesapeake Regional conducted in 2018.

As a result, Women’s Wellness Wednesdays was created, bringing 40 community vendors together to provide resources, services and conveniences to improve overall health. Additionally, 100 women from the area (zip code 23324) will be asked to complete a survey at the event in June—and then again in November. They will be part of a study to help determine if increased access to services also increases a sense of well-being and health for women in South Norfolk.
