Chesapeake Regional Healthcare Hosts Legislators During Hard Hat Tour of New Critical Care Patient Tower
CHESAPEAKE, Va.— Today several members of the Chesapeake legislative delegation visited Chesapeake Regional Medical Center’s new critical care patient tower, currently under construction, and took a hard hat tour of the $85 million master facility expansion project currently underway.
Delegate Cliff Hayes, Delegate Jay Leftwich, Delegate Clint Jenkins and Senator John Cosgrove were on hand to view the project’s progress. They toured space where Chesapeake Regional will add a step-down unit, an additional operating room, a telemetry stroke unit and other advanced technologies and interventions for a variety of acute medical conditions. The new tower and the units within it will be designed to support families, offering access to more amenities and updated accommodations.
Chesapeake Regional broke ground on the expansion project in January 2020 and in March of this year held a virtual topping off ceremony when the last beam was added to the tower. The new critical care patient tower will open in late Fall of this year. Also included in the master facility expansion project is the new cancer center, opening later this summer, and in 2022, a renovated and expanded Mother Baby unit.
