Hospital Auxiliary + -

Overview

The Chesapeake General Hospital Auxiliary was built by dedicated volunteers with generous hearts and a shared commitment to service. For more than five decades, Auxiliary members have served as trusted ambassadors for the hospital and a vital link between Chesapeake General Hospital and the community it serves.

Founded in September 1974 by a group of determined women, the Auxiliary was created with a clear mission: to selflessly support Chesapeake General Hospital, enhance the patient experience, and promote health and wellness throughout the community.

Today, the Auxiliary continues to grow alongside the hospital. Its impact can be seen across campus and throughout the community—through volunteer support, the hospital gift shop, lobby sales, community events, and meaningful contributions such as support for the Mobile Mammography Unit. Through these efforts, the Auxiliary remains an essential partner in advancing the hospital’s mission and strengthening community health.

Membership

Becoming a member of the Chesapeake General Hospital Auxiliary means joining a dedicated community of individuals who believe deeply in the mission of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. Auxiliary members share a commitment to giving their time, talents, and resources to help ensure high-quality care for our community—today and for generations to come.

Membership is open to anyone interested in supporting the mission of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. Members may contribute as much time as they are able; there are no minimum service requirements. Modest annual dues are collected each year and are due no later than August 1. An annual membership directory, including member listings and elected officers, is provided to all members.

The Auxiliary values connection and engagement. General membership meetings are held quarterly in September, December, March, and May, with the installation of new officers taking place in June. The Governing Board meets on the first Monday of each month from September through June. Members also receive a quarterly newsletter highlighting Auxiliary activities, initiatives, and upcoming opportunities.

Gift Shop

The ’Peake Boutique is proudly operated by the Chesapeake General Hospital Auxiliary and staffed by dedicated volunteers. Conveniently located within the Main Lobby of the hospital, the gift shop offers a welcoming selection of gifts, essentials, and thoughtful items for patients, visitors, and staff.

All proceeds from the ’Peake Boutique directly support the Auxiliary Fund, which is used to purchase new medical equipment and help fund special projects that enhance patient care and support hospital services. Every purchase made at the gift shop helps make a meaningful difference for our patients and our community.
