Staying Healthy at Chesapeake Regional

Practicing the 'Peake of Care.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made many of us anxious and especially apprehensive to enter medical facilities. This fear is understandable, and a healthy amount of caution is wise. However, I’d like to discuss the importance of continuing your regular health care during this crisis and what we’re doing at Chesapeake Regional to keep you healthy.

We’re open for business.

Chesapeake Regional was, is and always will be a safe place for you to come for your care. We strive to provide the highest quality of care and treat you and your family with respect. That hasn’t changed, and never will change, no matter the challenge.

How have we been able to keep our facilities running safely during the pandemic? Our team prepares and trains extensively to make sure we are ready for any situation. For example, we have a way to identify and treat COVID-19 patients in an isolated unit while simultaneously caring for other patients that come through our doors. Our emergency department, and the rest of our facilities, are still going full speed ahead and are ready to treat you and your family.

Early diagnosis is key.

During this time, it’s important you don’t forget about your overall health care. Cancer is a leading cause of death in this country. However, we can treat and cure almost 90% of cancers if an early diagnosis is made. That’s why it’s vital to keep up with preventative screenings, such as colonoscopies and mammograms. If you need to schedule an appointment for either of those services, please visit the pages for digestive health and breast health. Please, do not put off your care. Early diagnosis is key.

What about emergency visits?

Although it is wise to practice physical distancing and masking, there is no reason to be afraid to come into our emergency room. We identify COVID-19 patients early and isolate them from others quickly. You can be assured that you are safe from exposure to any disease, including Coronavirus, when you visit one of our facilities.

We are dedicated to your care.

Chesapeake Regional is ready to safely care for you and your family, but we can’t help you if you’re not here. If you have, or are at risk for co-morbidities such as diabetes or hypertension, it is vital we treat these early. Co-morbidities, when not properly managed, can further expose one to the Coronavirus or even worsen the effects of the virus. We need to make sure they are treated. This focus on your overall health is vital. We are open and available to diagnose and treat all conditions.
