Our pathologists, clinical laboratory scientists and phlebotomists are available to help you get fast results with advanced testing and diagnostics. All Chesapeake Regional lab facilities are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB).
Routine laboratory orders are filled at the Diagnostic Center of Chesapeake, on the first floor of Chesapeake Regional's W. Stanley Jennings Outpatient Center. If you require labs for an upcoming surgery, please visit the Pre-Surgical Admission Testing Page for more information.
Walk-In Laboratory Services
The Diagnostic Center of Chesapeake hours:
- Monday through Thursday, 7 am to 6 pm
- Friday, 7 am to 5:30 pm
- Saturday, from 8 am to noon
With A Physician's Order
Patients with a physician's order can go directly to the W. Stanley Jennings Outpatient Medical Center. Please bring your order, ID and insurance information.
Laboratory Testing Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I get my results? Your results will be mailed to your house about a week after testing. Results will also be posted to the patient portal MyChart and are available through Medical Records.
- Where are walk-ins? The walk-in lab is located at the Diagnostic Center of Chesapeake, on the first floor of the W. Stanley Jennings Outpatient Center. You are not required to schedule your lab test.
- Will my insurance be billed for my physician-ordered laboratory test? Yes, your insurance will be billed for this testing. Please contact your insurance company for information about what laboratory tests are covered.
Without a Physician's Order (MyLab Self-Testing)
Curious about your health? With MyLab, patients have access to a variety of diagnostic tests on a walk-in basis without a physician's order. Lab tests such as cholesterol, glucose and Vitamin D screenings help you keep track of your health between visits to the doctor's office.
MyLab Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need to schedule an appointment to use MyLab? No, appointments are not necessary for routine lab tests. Simply bring your order form to the Diagnostic Center of Chesapeake any time during normal business hours.
- What tests do you offer? A complete list of walk-in tests is available in our brochure.
- Where do I go for walk-in testing? MyLab is located at the Diagnostic Center of Chesapeake, on the first floor of the W. Stanley Jennings Outpatient Center.
- When and how do I get my results? Your results will be mailed to your house about a week after testing. Results will also be posted to the patient portal MyChart and are available through Medical Records. Your results will not be sent to your physician. It is your responsibility to share these results with your physician.
- Will my insurance be billed for MyLab testing? Insurance does not cover walk-in tests without a physician's order (MyLab testing). Payment is collected at the time of service. Exact cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.
- What do my results mean? Your results will be compared to normal ranges based on age and gender. You are strongly encouraged to discuss your results with your physician.
- Do I need to fast for any of these tests? Do not eat or drink anything but water for approximately eight to 12 hours before your test if you are getting screened for cholesterol, glucose or lipid profile. Fasting is not required for any other test.
Inpatient Laboratory Services
In addition to walk-in lab testing, Chesapeake Regional’s Laboratory supports all inpatient laboratory testing. If you have received lab testing as an inpatient, results can be viewed in the MyChart patient portal and copies can be obtained through Medical Records.
