Virtual Nursing

nurse

We are committed to keeping patients safe, supporting staff, and providing excellent nursing care. To help with this, we have partnered with Banyan Medical Solutions, the company that started virtual nursing, to add a remote nurse to some care teams. The virtual nurses work with patients, families, and healthcare teams to support administrative tasks, patient education, and to make sure patients receive safe, well-coordinated care.

Your Privacy Is Always Protected

Your privacy and security are protected with HIPAA-compliant technology, which is for live communication only. A circular rainbow light shows when the camera is active, and virtual nurses will always announce themselves with a chime and ask permission before beginning an interaction.

Technology That Supports Your Bedside Nurse

Virtual nursing supports our incredible bedside clinical team. By helping with admissions, discharge planning, and patient education, the virtual nurse allows your in-person nurse to focus on what matters most: patient-centered, hands-on care. This innovative teamwork enhances communication and your safety.

You will talk with a registered nurse more often to help you better understand your health and learn about the care you are receiving. Virtual nursing increases access to nursing support and increases your safety because another highly qualified registered nurse is caring for you. Overall, this makes your hospital stay safer, smoother and better supported from start to finish.

Will a virtual nurse replace my bedside nurse?

No. The virtual nurse is an experienced registered nurse who collaborates with your bedside nurse. This supports our teams and allows for more focused, hands-on patient care.

How will I know when the virtual nursing camera is on?

A circular rainbow light on the device illuminates when it is active, and the virtual nurse will always ask for permission before starting a video interaction.

Is the virtual nursing service available 24/7?

Yes. You will have access to a virtual nurse 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and nursing support at any time of day.

What specific tasks does the virtual nurse handle?

Virtual nurses assist with administrative and educational tasks such as admissions, discharge planning, patient education and documentation. This allows the bedside nurse to concentrate on direct patient care.

Why is Chesapeake Regional Healthcare using virtual nursing?

We are dedicated to patient safety, quality and satisfaction. This innovation allows us to improve our patient-centered care by adding another nurse to enhance communication and increase access to expert nursing support.

Is my conversation with the virtual nurse recorded?

No. The camera and microphone are only used for live, two-way communication and are never used to record. Your privacy is protected.
