CORPORATE ACHIEVEMENTS IN HEALTHCARE
The Cardiac Rehab program
It takes a dedicated team and a motivated patient to recover from a heart condition. They work together to create a plan and achieve short and long-term goals. For the past 36 years, a skilled team of health care professionals has offered patients a unique continuum of care under one roof. In 2011, it was the first in the area to be nationally certified by the AACVPR (the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation). They help over 600 patients a year create healthy habits focused on improving their hearts and reducing the risk of further damage. The program’s convenience, services, and clinical expertise are favorites among physicians and patients. It offers a comprehensive, well-respected program that includes exercise, stress management, blood pressure management, education about medications, nutrition, and heart failure warning signs, and a staff that works closely with physicians to ensure the patients' safe recovery.
NURSE LEADER
Shannon Roberts, MS, BSN, RN, RNC-OB
Shannon Roberts is the Director of Women’s and Children’s Services at Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. A compassionate nurse leader, she worked for more than 20 years as nurse manager of the labor and delivery unit. She began her tenure as a candy striper at age 14 and cares deeply about health care excellence and community involvement. Shannon has dedicated her career to supporting women and families in Hampton Roads through pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood.
