Chesapeake Regional to Host Inaugural Nursing Draft Day

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Chesapeake Regional Healthcare will hold its first-ever Nursing Draft Day on Friday, Jan. 10, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Lifestyle Health & Fitness Center, 800 Battlefield Blvd., North, in Chesapeake. The event addresses Chesapeake Regional Healthcare’s commitment to fulfilling workforce needs while supporting the next generation of nurses.

The invitation-only event will welcome over 30 students from the College of Nursing at ECPI University, in Virginia Beach, for an exclusive opportunity to interview for critical nursing roles at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. There will be energy, excitement, and anticipation throughout the day, beginning at 9 a.m. with nursing leadership presentations, games, and interviews. At 12:30 a.m. the draft will begin, lasting until 2:30 p.m.

“Nursing Draft Day represents an ideal setting to connect with the talented students of ECPI University,” said Kimberly Green, MSN, RN, MEDSURG-BC, Director of Acute Care Services at Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. “We are eager to recruit dedicated nurses who are both highly skilled and committed to advancing their careers within an organization that values their professional growth and fosters a strong sense of belonging.”

Throughout the day, nursing leaders will talk with candidates, graduating from ECPI’s College of Nursing at the end of January, to better understand their aspirations, experiences, and career goals. Chesapeake Regional aims to build a strong foundation for long-term professional relationships by having meaningful conversations with the new graduates before they are hired.
