Infused Water Recipes To Improve Your Health In Surprising Ways
Sugar-sweetened sodas, coffees and teas are some of the biggest sources of added sugars and excess calories in the American diet. Tasty, zero-calorie fluids can help you to stay hydrated and substitute for unwanted calories and sugars. This can help decrease your risk of certain diseases, such as Type 2 diabetes.
Proper hydration can also help to lubricate joints, improve digestion and assists the kidneys and liver in removing harmful substances.
Staying hydrated becomes especially important as we get older. As we age we may not feel as thirsty, and therefore forget to drink water throughout the day. Keeping a water bottle nearby can help remind you to take small sips frequently, decreasing the risk of dehydration.
Note: there are certain medical conditions that may require fluid restriction. If you have any concerns about how much fluid you should be drinking, talk with your doctor or health care team for personalized recommendations.
