New Board Members Appointed to Chesapeake Hospital Authority

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Two new members have recently been appointed by Chesapeake City Council to the Chesapeake Hospital Authority Board. Dee D. Gilmore and Harold J. Marioneaux, Jr. began their appointments in January. Their terms will last through Jan. 2024. The Chesapeake Hospital Authority is an 11-member board of area citizens that oversees the operations of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare.

Gilmore and Marioneaux join fellow board members: Robert (Robin) W. Tull, Jr., Chair; Kristi Wooten, Esq., Vice Chair; John T Maxwell, Secretary; Robert Schnarrs, M.D., Treasurer; Roland Davis; Larry Zoeller; Sandra Baynes; Angela Ferebee, M.D ., FACOG; and Baxter Ennis.

Dee D. Gilmore 
Dee Gilmore has an extensive background in management and is a long-time resident of Chesapeake. She served as a top advisor to Randy Forbes, former U.S. Representative, beginning first as a Legislative Assistant for him when he was a Delegate to the Virginia General Assembly in 1990. In 2001 she became Forbes’s District Chief of Staff/District Director and in 2003 became his Chief of Staff, managing both staff and operations for his three district offices. Gilmore was integral to the Congressman’s strategy regarding legislation, communications, policies, programs and direction. She was appointed by the Governor and served four years on the Old Dominion University Board of Visitors to oversee the interests of the University.

Harold J. Marioneaux, Jr., DDS
Harold Marioneaux, Jr. is an accomplished dental professional. He began as a dental officer in the U.S. Navy, and after several positions in higher education, in 2009 Marioneaux established the dental hygiene program at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, Va. where he currently serves as the program’s director. During his career, he designed Hampton University’s nationally recognized Masters in Medical Science program, served as its Assistant Dean of Administration and then Dean of the School of Science. He left higher education for three years to start AP Max, a student monitoring and tracking system designed to improve performance and student retention. Marioneaux has been appointed to many area boards, is the recipient of several professional awards, and has presented numerous workshops and talks about dentistry, health and education.
