Chesapeake Regional Nurses Win Place in American Nurse All Pro Nursing Team Competition

CHESAPEAKE, Va.— May is Nurses Month and in advance of that, the nurses at Chesapeake Regional Healthcare have a lot to celebrate. Their Clinical Coordinator Nursing Team has been selected as Third Runner-Up in the American Nurse Journal’s All Pro Nursing Team competition.

When submitting their entry, Chesapeake Regional Healthcare focused on collaboration. Leslie Griffin, Magnet Program Director, who helped write the submission says, “It was difficult to focus on just one team because caring for a community during a pandemic is a collaborative effort. The Clinical Coordinators represent all areas of the hospital, and therefore all nursing teams.”

Amber Egyud, DNP, RN, NE-BC, Chesapeake Regional’s Chief Operating & Nursing Officer says, “This is well-deserved recognition. This award highlights the way our Clinical Coordinator Team has worked together to address high capacity while safely caring for COVID-19 patients and creatively finding ways to care for staff. They have worked tirelessly and their resilience in the face of adversity has been nothing less than amazing.”

The American Nurse Journal’s All Pro Nursing Team competition rewards teams that have focused on communication, leadership and responsiveness during the past year, all while caring for patients and each other during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the highest number of submissions since American Nurse Journal launched the award in 2018, stories were submitted from around the world describing the work of nurses caring for patients, adapting to updated guidelines, innovating in the midst of supply shortages, and supporting each other,” Julie Cullen, managing editor of American Nurse Journal Noted. “This year’s All Pro winners exemplify nursing teams that jumped into the fray, created policies and procedures in response to a novel virus, delivered excellent care, acted as surrogate family to isolated patients, and responded to their colleagues’ needs.”
