Chesapeake Regional Receives 2023 Certification Achievement Award
April 10, 2023
CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Chesapeake Regional Medical Center’s Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) has earned the prestigious American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification Achievement Award. The award recognizes hospital units that have at least 75% of their eligible nurses certified. This achievement is a testament to the leadership and staff at Chesapeake Regional Healthcare who recognize and support the value of nursing certification.
Chesapeake Regional’s PACU is a department of the hospital dedicated to providing care to patients recovering from anesthesia. Patients are temporarily admitted to the unit after surgery and cared for by nurses who are highly trained to provide medical care for surgical patients.
“Board-certified registered nurses who care for our patients ensure the hospital’s PACU is expertly staffed,” says Amber Egyud, DNP, RN, NE-BC, FAONL, Chief Operating & Nursing Officer at Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. “We are proud of the hard work our nurses do every day to ensure patients are properly cared for, and especially those who value and attain professional certification.”
Only a select few health care organizations across the nation have such a high percentage of certified nurses in their perianesthesia department. Both the Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN®) and the Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA®) programs are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification.
