Chesapeake Regional’s Marketing Director Earns National Award

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Janele Marek, Director of Marketing, was recently named a 2023 Top Hospital Marketer of the Year by Xpectives.Health. The award recognizes extraordinary marketers from hospitals and other healthcare facilities who drive innovation and work toward better patient health outcomes. The 2023 class was recently honored at the 2023 Hospital Marketing National Conference, in Boston.

Marek joined Chesapeake Regional Healthcare in 2021. Since her arrival, she has managed the creation of a new brand platform - “Innovative for Life” - increasing Chesapeake Regional’s brand awareness and elevating its reputation. Her team leads the public relations, social media, digital marketing, internal communications and creative development for the entire health system. Together, they have increased social media engagement, earned media mentions, and creative volumes year-over-year.

With a 20-year career in marketing and advertising that began with the USA Luge team, Marek has diverse professional experience. She has worked for advertising agencies supporting national brands and more recently at a health system in Pittsburgh. While there, she led “#MyWishForMoms gives voice to postpartum depression,” an initiative created to help break the stigma around postpartum depression and anxiety in collaboration with model and author, Chrissy Teigen. The initiative was recognized with three Effie US Awards.
