Chesapeake Regional Recognizes its 2022 Certified Nurse of Distinction

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – In advance of Certified Nurses Day on Saturday, March 19, the nursing staff at Chesapeake Regional Healthcare has honored Sharon Zielinski, RN, CPPS, as the 2022 Certified Nurse of Distinction. A dedicated 22-year employee, Sharon is known throughout the organization for promoting patient safety and being an outstanding representative of the Quality and Patient Safety Department.

Sharon was nominated for her leadership in the Quality and Patient Safety Department and for her involvement in several organizational initiatives, many as a volunteer. She is coordinator of Chesapeake Regional’s National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators and is certified in patient safety. With her enthusiasm and warmth, she participates in countless hospital associated committees and offers support to numerous clinical units.

“It is a true honor to recognize Sharon,” states Amber Egyud, DNP, RN, NE-BC, Chief Operations & Nursing Officer. “She is a champion for patient safety. Her distinguished performance on the job, and her support of other clinicians are examples of the value nurses bring to their specialty when they continue their professional development through certification.”

This is the second year Chesapeake Regional has celebrated Certified Nurses Day. Nominees were submitted by colleagues and the winner was selected by a committee. The day is celebrated worldwide to recognize and celebrate the value certification brings to patients and their families by validating that the nurses caring for them have demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in their complex specialties.
