Nov. 1, 2022

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Chesapeake Regional Medical Center has been recognized by Healthgrades as a Labor and Delivery Excellence Award™ recipient for the 4th year in a row (2019-2022). This achievement places the hospital among the top 5% of hospitals evaluated for labor and delivery care by Healthgrades, the leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients. Chesapeake Regional’s BirthPlace is one of only five hospitals in Virginia to receive this distinction and the only one in Hampton Roads.

The award for superior clinical care of women during and after childbirth aligns with the health system’s latest branding commercial highlighting Women’s Services, designed to increase brand awareness, and built around the concept INNOVATIVE FOR LIFE™. The new creative, designed by Otto Marketing + Design, reminds audiences that bringing new life into the world is nothing short of incredible and that the award-winning BirthPlace at Chesapeake Regional welcomes more than 3,000 babies each year and is preferred most by area moms*.

“Our Labor and Delivery staff, and our obstetricians, are very deserving of this recognition,” said Amber Egyud, DNP, RN, NE-BC, Chief Operating and Nursing Officer. “Together, they are a dedicated team that consistently provides high-quality, compassionate care for laboring mothers. Pregnant women in the region have come to know Chesapeake Regional’s BirthPlace as a favorite because of the outstanding care and personal service they receive when they deliver here.”

“Through our 2022 Obstetrics & Gynecology Awards, we seek to recognize facilities who excel in delivering superior care for OB-GYN patients,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and head of Data Science, Healthgrades. “We are proud to name Chesapeake Regional Medical Center as a 2022 Labor and Delivery Excellence Award recipient and look forward to their continued efforts to make maternal care a priority.”
