Chesapeake Regional Now Part of Internship Program for Students with Disabilities. Chesapeake Regional Healthcare (CRH) is now a host site for the Project SEARCH High School Transition Program, an international school-to-work program that provides competitive work experience for students with disabilities. CRH has partnered with Chesapeake Public Schools (CPS) to provide internships for up to 12 students in the 2015-2016 program.
Chesapeake Regional Healthcare (CRH) today announced that Reese Jackson, JD, MHA, FACHE has been named the next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Jackson is an accomplished health care strategist with more than two decades of progressive leadership experience in diverse health care settings and organizations across the country. More recently, Jackson was the President and CEO of Forbes Hospital, a community hospital in Monroeville, Pa. with more than 300 beds and a certified Level II Trauma Center.
Two new members have recently been appointed by Chesapeake City Council to the Chesapeake Hospital Authority. Kristi Wooten and John Maxwell began their appointment on April 27 and their terms will last to January 2021. The Chesapeake Hospital Authority is an 11-member board of area citizens who work together to ensure that Chesapeake Regional Healthcare’s services align with the community’s needs.
CHESAPEAKE, Va. – The Virginia Emergency Management Association (VEMA) recently recognized Chesapeake Regional Healthcare’s Matt Leicester, Emergency Management Coordinator, as the 2022 Outstanding New Emergency Management Professional of the Year. The announcement was made at VEMA’s annual symposium, held in March, at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.
The award is selected by peers and recognizes a newcomer to the emergency management profession who has displayed enthusiasm, innovation, and commitment. Recipients have made significant contributions to the field.
CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Chesapeake Regional is hosting a Spring Career Fair on Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m., at the Lifestyle Health & Fitness Center, 800 Battlefield Blvd., North, in Chesapeake. The health system is hiring clinical and non-clinical staff.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – One in four nurses is physically assaulted on the job, according to a 2019 survey by the American Nurses Association. Hostile work conditions in medical facilities were on the rise before the pandemic and since then things have only gotten worse. To support its clinical staff and bring awareness for the need to help stop the violence, Chesapeake Regional Healthcare has planned an educational fair and community walk on Tuesday, May 10.
CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Chesapeake Regional Health Foundation (CRHF), created to help further the Chesapeake Regional Healthcare (CRH) mission, to improve the health and well-being of the communities served, announced today that Truist Financial Corporation through its Truist Charitable Fund, a donor-advised fund at The Winston-Salem Foundation, has awarded it a $100,000 grant to support low- to moderate-income patients after their hospital stay.
Five new members have recently joined the Chesapeake Regional Health Foundation Board of Directors. Christopher (Chris) Crouch, Michael J. Kos, C. Ross Morgan, Tara Preston and Woody Warren began their appointments on July 1, 2018. Their terms will last through June 2021. The Chesapeake Regional Health Foundation Board is a volunteer board formed to carry out and support the philanthropic, scientific and educational purposes of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare.
During the Chesapeake Hospital Authority’s July meeting, four members were elected to leadership positions. Susan O. Archer was named Chairman, Lawrence E. Zoeller was named Vice Chairman, Robert W. Tull, Jr. was named Secretary and Kristi A. Wooten, Esq. was named Treasurer. Each member will serve one year in their elected positions.
