Chesapeake celebrates Nurses Week with Community Partners Appreciation Parade

May 5, 2023

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Chesapeake Regional Healthcare will recognize National Nurses Week early Monday morning, May 8, during a ceremony beginning at 7:45 a.m., outside the hospital’s main entrance, at 736 Battlefield Blvd., North, in Chesapeake.

The ceremony will begin with Amber Egyud, DNP, RN, NE-BC, FAONL, Chief Operating & Nursing Officer, reading The Nightingale Pledge, considered a nurse’s oath, and named in honor of Florence Nightingale, the founder of nursing.

At  8 a.m., Chesapeake’s first responders will drive around the hospital’s front entrances in an annual Community Partners Appreciation Parade that began in 2020. The highly anticipated light and siren show was created to demonstrate an appreciation for nurses during the pandemic. It continues as a celebration of the nursing staff and is a highlight of Nurses Week (May 6-12), celebrated in conjunction with Hospital Week (May 7-13), to recognize caregivers and hospitals who support and care for their communities.

All are invited to attend to show support for nurses everywhere.
