Customized Wellness Programs

The staff of the Lifestyle Health & Fitness Center is eager to help your company get started with your own employee wellness program. Our experienced staff is composed of nurses, exercise physiologists, dietitians, lactation consultants, diabetes educators and health educators. The Lifestyle Center has five classrooms, which are available for employee wellness classes, if space is limited at your work site. Select one or more of the following opportunities to assess and improve your employees' health! We'll design a program that fits your specific goals.

We have been nationally recognized for its well-developed and implemented employee wellness program. Since it’s implementation, we have reduced our health care costs, improved morale and helped with the modification of unhealthy behaviors.

CPR and First Aid Certification

Train your employees to be ready to act in the event of an emergency with our CPR and First Aid Classes. Each class provides attendees with training in adult, child and infant CPR as well as instruction about how to use an Automated External Defibrillation (AED) device. Attendees will receive a two year certification.

Flu Shots

At Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, we want to ensure our valued customers have ample time to prepare for the next flu season.

Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory disease that can lead to serious complications, hospitalization or even death. Your employee may lose, on average, one week of work depending on the severity of their illness. The secondary infections that may occur due to influenza include pneumonia, dehydration, and sinus and ear infections. Individuals with chronic medical conditions such as heart failure, asthma and diabetes have increased health risks if they contract the flu virus. While flu activity usually peaks between December and February, the flu itself is unpredictable. Although there are many different flu viruses, the yearly flu vaccine protects against the three viruses that research suggests will be most common that flu season.

The best way to protect against the flu is to get a flu vaccine every season.

Flu Shots = 10 Minutes
Time off Work for Illness = Up to 10 days

Employers can be proactive and maintain productivity by having a flu vaccine clinic available for employees at the work site. A minimal loss of work time when getting their vaccine will prevent greater time losses during the season.

Health Risk Assessment

Our health risk assessment helps employees evaluate their lifestyles to make informed decisions about their health. Through confidential online questionnaires and health screenings, we'll creates a personalized report for each employee that helps guide healthier lifestyle choices.

What's more, your organization will receive a group report that paints a company-wide picture of health risk factors. Then, we follow up with "lunch and learn' presentations that promote ways your company and employees can reduce those risks.

Nutrition & Diabetes Education

Nutrition is an important part of preventive education, as well as a treatment for many diseases. We offer individual and group counseling sessions and themed seminars conducted by registered dietitians, experienced in medical nutrition therapy and health education. Individual nutrition counseling is often covered by most major insurances. Group and on-location classes are made available by request.

Complete Diabetes Education is also available for those who have been recently diagnosed with diabetes, or are struggling to self-manage their diabetes. This in-depth class includes one-on-one appointments with a dietitian and a registered nurse, as well as group classes about managing the disease, nutrition, and other targeted topics. Individual diabetes counseling is also available to help your employees learn how to live well with diabetes.

Wellness Programs

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare has successfully implemented several award-winning wellness programs for our employees. We can help you to kick off these same programs, and more, to engage and reward your employees with a healthy lifestyle.

Maintain, Don't Gain Over the Holidays

A nine-week program, starting in early November, this program’s focus is to inspire employees to make good choices throughout the holidays. Employees must weigh in seven times during one of the weekly weigh-in sessions, and keep within two pounds of their starting weight. Each participant pays a $10 enrollment fee. If they succeed, they will get their money back, as well as split the proceeds from anyone who did not achieve the goal. Weekly education tip sheets and nutrition class options are available to help educate employees about avoiding temptation.

Team Fit Exercise Program

This themed exercise incentive program asks employees to create teams and log their exercise workouts daily. Certain exercises are given different point allotments. At the end of the three-month program, scores are tallied and prizes are awarded accordingly. Team leaders help to keep their teams inspired, as do fun themes, pep rallies and inter-departmental and team challenges.

Lose It to Win It

This lifestyle challenge program encourages employees to lose, maintain or not gain more than two pounds over a 12-week period. Participants weigh in once a week. Much like the television show The Biggest Loser, winners are determined by highest percentage of body weight lost.

Smoking Cessation Program

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare is proud to be a tobacco-free campus. As a health care organization we want to provide both the environment and the support to help employees live a healthier life. We provide multiple resources to assist employees and their spouses to quit tobacco use, which is one of the most preventable causes of significant health issues.
