Come be part of our team Volunteering at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center is rewarding and interesting. Our volunteers know they are making a difference every day and that their efforts are appreciated by our patients and staff. Volunteers are truly a part of our team and are treated as such. Volunteers wear a uniform and ID badge so that their official status is immediately recognized by Chesapeake Regional Medical Center staff and patients. Volunteers are included in hospital special events and are given a special reception during National Volunteer Week each year. In addition to a general orientation, volunteers receive training in their chosen area. Additional special training may be provided in certain areas of the hospital, such as our Mother/ Baby Unit or Therapeutic Visitation. Benefits of volunteering People volunteer in their communities for many reasons. Of course, you want to make a positive difference in the lives of the people you interact with, but volunteering benefits the volunteer too. Volunteering can help you learn about your community and your role in it. Volunteering can help you gain valuable experience in the field of healthcare. Volunteering can help you:
Through volunteering at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, individuals have the opportunity to enhance the care of our patients, provide help to our clinical and non-clinical departments, supplement the care given by nurses and doctors, and help visitors and patient’s families. We appreciate the time and talents of our volunteers! Email volunteering@chesapeakeregional.comCall 757-312-6109 for more information. Volunteer Opportunities We have many opportunities for those interested in volunteering. Some volunteers come to us with very specific goals and ideas about what they want to do. Others come knowing they want to volunteer but aren’t sure what they want to do or how they can help. That’s why each applicant to our program is given an individual interview to ascertain their interests, skills and availability. We will help to make your volunteer experience rewarding. Every effort is made to place new volunteers areas they find interesting. With so many fields of service available, you are sure to find something that’s right for you!
