Chesapeake Hospital Authority Names New Officers

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Three Chesapeake Hospital Authority Board members were recently elected to leadership rolls during the organization’s annual meeting. Dr. Angela Ferebee was named Chair, Dee Gilmore was named Vice Chair, and John Maxwell was named Secretary/Treasurer. The newly appointed officers will begin their term July 1, 2023.

Dr. Ferebee is an obstetrician and gynecologist who has been practicing in Chesapeake since 1995. She earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed her residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Va. Ferebee is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and practices at Greenbrier Obstetrics and Gynecology. As a dedicated community physician with extensive leadership experience, Ferebee has served on several medical staff committees at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. She is board-certified by and a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dee D. Gilmore, Chesapeake Hospital Authority Board Vice Chair
Dee Gilmore has an extensive background in management and is a long-time resident of Chesapeake. She served as a top advisor to Randy Forbes, former U.S. Congressman, and as his Chief of Staff managed the managed the budget, staff, and operations for the DC office and all three district offices. Gilmore was integral to the Congressman’s strategy regarding legislation, communication, policies, programs, and direction. She graduated Cum Laude from George Mason University with a BS Degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Management and Marketing. She also served four years on the Old Dominion University Board of Visitors.

John T. Maxwell, Chesapeake Hospital Authority Board Secretary/Treasurer
John Maxwell has over 30 years’ experience as a management consultant and senior vice president at Mercer Group, Inc. From 1978-84 he served as Chesapeake’s City Manager and is the recipient of the Management Innovation Award by the International City/County Management Association.
