Blue Distinction Center+ for Bariatric Surgery

Awarded by Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Distinction Centers recognize select doctors, hospitals and other health care facilities for the high quality, safe care they provide. Each meets a set of rigorous standards to receive the designation. Our bariatric surgery program meets those standards as a Blue Distinction Center+.

The Breast Center at Chesapeake Regional

National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers

We have passed a rigorous evaluation by independent clinical surveyors who have awarded us their nationally recognized seal of approval. Our accreditation is a validation of the quality standard of care we give our patients. We are the only breast center in the area that has breast surgeons on-site. Our dedicated physicians and caring staff are among the reasons we stand out as one of the top breast centers in the nation.

American College of Radiology

Accredited Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

The Jennings Outpatient Center Ultrasound Department is an ACR-accredited Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. In order to achieve this designation, the department first had to become accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, ultrasound and ultrasound biopsy. The facility has additional ACR accreditation in MRI and MRI breast biopsy, and is currently in the accreditation process for CT.

Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

This prestigious designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the ACR’s voluntary breast imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program. In order to achieve this designation, the department first had to become accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, ultrasound and ultrasound biopsy.

Breast MRI-Accredited Facility

The American College of Radiology's Breast MRI Accreditation Program recognizes the highest level of image quality and patient safety available. The Breast MRI Accreditation Program provides facilities performing breast MRI procedures with peer review and constructive feedback on their staff's qualifications, equipment, quality control, quality assurance, safety policies and image quality.

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center has been recognized by Healthgrades as a Labor and Delivery Excellence Award™ recipient for the 4th year in a row (2019-2022). We are the only health system in Hampton Roads to receive the award four consecutive years. Additionally, we have been recognized as a Five-Star Recipient for Vaginal Delivery for six years in a row and a Five-Star Recipient for C-Section Delivery for seven years in a row. We Honor Veterans 

Our Home & Supportive Care program partners with We Honor Veterans, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). These heroic Americans deserve recognition for their military service, particularly at the end of life's journey. The Home & Supportive Care program at Chesapeake Regional provides for the unique needs of our nation's Veterans who are facing a life-limiting illness.

American College of Radiology Accreditation for MRI and Ultrasound

The Jennings Outpatient Center and Chesapeake Regional Medical Center Ultrasound Departments have each been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in ultrasound as the result of an extensive review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Ultrasound imaging, also known as sonography, uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body parts to help providers diagnose illness, injury or other medical problems.

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center's Pelvic Health program is designated a Center of Excellence by the National Association for Continence (NAFC), recognizing the hospital's dedication to serving the best interests of patients suffering with pelvic health concerns.

Radiology

American College of Radiology Gold Seal

Chesapeake Regional's Radiology Department is accredited in both MRI and ultrasound by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR Gold Seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR practice guidelines and technical standards following a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.

American Academy of Sleep Medicine Accreditation

The Sleep Centers of Chesapeake and of North Carolina have received the American Academy of Sleep Medicine accreditation.

Stroke

Comprehensive Stroke Certification 

  • The Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) has designated Chesapeake Regional Healthcare as a Fully Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, assuring the public that Chesapeake Regional has a neuroscience ICU, experienced personnel, and expertise in treating patients with large ischemic strokes, intracerebral hemorrhage, and subarachnoid hemorrhage.

American Heart Association’s 2022 Gold Plus Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke 

  • A quality achievement award for Chesapeake Regional’s commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and reduced disability.

American Heart Association’s Target: Stroke Honor Roll Award

  • The hospital has met specific scientific guidelines as a Primary Stroke Center or as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, featuring a comprehensive system for rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients admitted to the emergency department.

Safety & Security

Program of Distinction from the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare was the 32nd organization in the United States, and the first organization in the state of Virginia, to receive the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Program of Distinction recognition for security department accreditation. The IAHSS Program of Distinction acknowledgement recognizes security programs where 70 percent of the officers, managers and directors are IAHSS certified. CRH's security department was recognized with 100 percent of its 20 officers certified through IAHSS.

Transitional Care Clinic

2019 Health Care Hero Award Winner: Corporate Achievements in Health Care - Through community partnerships that improve access to care, eliminate barriers, and provide necessary resources, the Transitional Care Clinic (TCC), located on the campus of Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, has improved the lives of many underserved patients while also decreasing hospital readmissions.
